Lynxstar rolled her eyes as she sat in the mossy bed. The nursery that had been created for her. Honestly, these toms could come up with the craziest ideas! Her kits were not to even grow up in this Clan. There was no point in having a nursery, if there were to be no kits. And Lynxstar much preferred her nest, in her den, where she could fight to protect herself and the Clan. This stupid area was NOT where she wanted to be. It was too large, for one thing, and for another WHY was the floor ALL mossy and NOT AT ALL stony? It was WRONG! She could just have the kits in her den and then take them away. Why not? And for another thing, she should TOTALLY be allowed to hunt her own prey. WHY couldn't she GO AND CATCH HER OWN MOUSE? Plus the borders, which needed to be checked. DEAR RAINDRE THE BORDERS. The others probably weren't checking them properly, considering that Lynxstar hadn't had the time to show them where the territory was to be. Suddenly, pains began racking her body. Lynxstar realized what was happening, and all previous thoughts were abandoned. A tiny voice in the back of her head squealed in joy, screaming with happiness. I'm gonna be a mother! It cried out, but soon the rest of her mind squashed that thought right out.
Once all three kits were born, Lynxstar looked them over. They would make fine warriors, for whatever Clan they joined. All three of them were beautiful, and it seemed as if two of them had powers. One's clue was the fact that around it, little ice particles were forming, and the other's being that it's fur was taking a moment to grow and shorten. But Lynx knew that she couldn't keep these kits. It just wouldn't make sense. And so she called out.
"Mapleheart? Could you please take these as far away as possible? Have your siblings help you if you must, but take them away from me. Quickly, before I decide to keep them." The leader watched as her beautiful babies were taken away by the warrior and apprentices. Once they were old enough, she would tell them. But for now, they had to leave. Lynxstar knew they'd be safe wherever they went. But she simply couldn't keep them. Not with everything that was going on around her. Not with her Clan. And especially not with Blazeblizzard, Frostfang, Mapleheart, and Vixen, all clearly ready to take over if need be. She had to stay strong, because she was their leader.
And she couldn't have kits yet. She wouldn't-- no, couldn't --risk being like her mother had been. Lynxstar couldn't bear it if her own kits grew up to hate her. So she would watch from afar.
